The term Pediatric is derived from a Greek word Paid=child, Intros- doctor or healer. It is a wide branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. It covers all the health issues occurring in the age group up to 18 years
The person who takes care of children is also called as Pediatrician, his role is to administer immunization, carrying routine health checkup, diagnosing and treating all the injuries and illness in children.
Pediatric is not only concerned about the immediate management of the ill children it also includes long term care and improving the quality of life in children, decreasing the disability and improving the survival rate in children. They also focus on early detection, prevent and management of immediate health risks.

As a pediatric doctor he tests several health’s conditions which are concerned in children such as
- Development disorder- muscle disorder, spine disorder, blood disorder, cerebral palsy etc.
- Behavioral disorders – anxiety, depression etc
- Mental disorders
- Injuries and infections
- Congenital or genetic conditions
- Organ diseases and dysfunction
Pediatric medicine is far away from adult medicine because the children has a smaller body proportion comparison to adult it is like treating a miniature adult.
